Loano, city of the Dorias

Loano was from the thirteenth century imperial fief of the Dorias of Genoa, when the bishop of Albenga Lanfranco ceded the territory to Oberto Doria in 1263 who built his castle dwelling on an old ruin that dominated the plain of Loano. It was by the will of the Doria family that grandiose public monuments were built in Loano, which today constitute a monumental heritage of considerable interest.
